Ashland Precision Tooling, LLC has designed a high-heat resistant, cast polymer, dipped goods mold. An economical mold solution for those companies making dipped goods using natural rubber latex, neoprene latex, nitrile latex, synthetic rubber inverted latex, or solution polymers. Molds made from this thermoset material exhibit properties that make them a universal, low cost mold.
Some benefits of our molds include:
- Being a thermoset, they do not melt like thermoplastic materials.
- Highly resistant to deflection or degradation at curing oven temperatures.
- Chemical and solvent resistant - they do not pit or corrode.
- Lightweight - 1.06 specific gravity.
- Highly abrasive resistant and very tough.
- Because they are cast, they can have many shapes and surface finishes.
- Low tooling costs.
- Fasteners can be molded directly into the mold.
- Exhibit low thermo-conductivity - no “hot spots.”
- Finished parts are more easily stripped compared to ceramic or aluminum molds.
- Surface tension properties are similar to metal or ceramic molds, there fore little or no modification in the dipped process is needed.
- Economical; especially at low volumes compared to most dip molds made with ceramic, glass, or machined metal.
